Spatialists.ch

Spatialists.ch is a new geospatial news curation site created by @rsm. It tries to offer a focused lens on interesting news and noteworthy advancements within our field, with a bias towards – but definitely not limited to – #SwissGIS news.

Spatialists is not a full-fledged blog with long articles, commentary and opinion as was common mid-2000s to 2010s. Instead, it follows the pattern of a microblogging-style news curation service to deliver interesting content to professionals in our field in a concise and easily digestible form.

Spatialists has published roughly three short articles per week, so far. The most recent posts include:

You can get Spatialists news through any of these channels[1]:

You can check out last week’s newsletter. Again, you can subscribe to receive such geospatial news by e-mail here, if you like.

Always happy to receive feedback and input, of course.

This is an inspiring initiative and a nice, inclusive blog title (“Spatialists” as a plural). Feel free to mention it regularly here in the GEOWebforum !

I’ve just read your latest blog post about EMBAG/LMETA EMBAG/LMETA does not make open geodata – spatialists.ch – geospatial news .

You wrote there:

To conclude, from my layperson’s perspective: The EMBAG/LMETA does not advance OGD for geodata, as previous regulations specific to the geospatial field take precedence.

I’m also „IANAL“ but I actually do think that it was the intention of EMBAG/LMETA to promote also open geodata. I mean, otherwise the whole EMBAG would be useless by design - which it certainly isn’t!
